NWS Greenville-Spartanburg (Western North Carolina and Northwest South Carolina)
Special Weather Statement issued November 13 at 11:16AM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg
…PATCHY BLACK ICE TODAY AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE NORTH
CAROLINA MOUNTAINS…
The combination of recent light snow, light icing, and lingering
subfreezing temperatures has created some slippery road
conditions at the higher elevations of the North Carolina
mountains, especially near the Tennessee border. Locations above
3500 feet received light snow accumulations overnight and
temperatures have been slow to recover above the 20s. Be on the
lookout for patchy black ice today if traveling in the western
North Carolina mountains, especially along the higher ridges.
