Small Stream Flood Advisory In Effect Until 7:30pm – Monday June 10, 2019

The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas for…
Alleghany County in northwestern North Carolina…
Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina…
Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina…
Southwestern Grayson County in southwestern Virginia…

* Until 730 PM EDT

* At 331 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain which will cause small stream flooding and minor
flooding from poor drainage areas that will overflow. Up to one
inch of rain has already fallen in portions of Watauga County, and
this rainfall should move eastward.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Boone…
North Wilkesboro…
Wilkesboro…
Sparta…
and Jefferson.

Additional rainfall of up to one inch is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding due to already
saturated conditions from rainfall during the past weekend.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
by calling toll free at 1…8 6 6…2 1 5…4 3 2 4. Reports and
