The Watauga County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about another phone scam involving false claims of missed federal jury duty.
According to the Sheriff's Office, scammers are calling residents and claiming they missed Federal Jury Duty. The callers often use names similar to current or former WCSO deputies in an attempt to sound credible.
The Sheriff's Office stresses that it will never demand payment or immediate action over the phone.
Anyone who receives a call they're unsure about is asked to contact the Watauga County Sheriff's Office directly to verify at 828-264-3761.
