Strong thunderstorms on Saturday evening lead to some down trees and power outages. It also delayed Kidd Brewer Stadium opening early for the Darius Rucker show and pushed the opening act back by an hour.
A thunderstorm watch was issued for much of the High Country just before 4 in the afternoon, followed by thunderstorm warnings around 5:45.
Trees were reported down in Valle Crucis, Matney and Seven Devils during the 6pm hour. Numerous power outages quickly followed but were brought back online in a timely manner by Blue Ridge Energy.
