Road Flagger Dies After Being Struck Thursday Night, Driver Charged With Felony Hit & Run

A road flagger working on a paving project on Highway 421, at the top of Boone Mountain, has passed away after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning. The accident occurred just before 3am.

Brittian South, age 25, succumbed to his injuries at 8:30 am on Saturday morning, multiple sources confirm to WataugaOnline.com. South was road flagging as part of paving operations by Maymead Inc.

The driver of the vehicle, Israel Alejandro Flores age 21, has been charged with Felony Hit & Run
