Monday Dec 17

3:06am – Dense fog in the area, allow extra travel time

6:29am – Dense fog this morning, 80% chance of rain today with possibility of thunderstorm this afternoon per NWS.

7:44am – Boone is clear, very foggy elsewhere

9:49am – Per DOT- Possible lane closures on #US321 and US 321 Bus in Blowing Rock today. Slow down, expect delays. Call project hotline (828) 964-3260.

11:21am – WataugaRoads offers condolences to the family of Leigh Cooper Wallace on the news of her sudden passing this morning. Leigh was a teacher/coach in the school system and a survivor of a high profile murder rape case in September 1989 (of which the annual Walk for Awareness is based on). Her strength and courage have inspired countless women, both from that tragic situation & her role as a coach. RIP

6:15pm – 70% chance of rain tonight, wind gust up to 30mph tonight, 35mph on Tuesday. Temps are gonna nose dive this week with Fridays highs in lower 30s.

6:56pm – Getting a few reports of lightning in the area

7:12pm – Thunder and lightning reported in East TN and here locally

8:10pm – getting a report of rain/sleet mix and lightning on Beech.

10:28pm – 70% chance of rain tonight, wind gust up to 30mph tonight, 35mph on Tuesday. Temps are going to nose dive this week with Fridays highs in lower 30s.

6:28am – Some spots are getting rain this morning. Wind gust of over 40mph possible later today, be sure to secure those outdoor decorations.

10:20am – Per DOT – Due to inclement weather, limited ops today on #US321 in Blowing Rock. No blasting in Cliff Dwellers area. Road open. Stay alert.

10:26am – Don't let the sun fool you it's gonna be cold today. Highs in the 40s with wind gusts up to 45mph possible. Bundle up.

12:05pm – traffic should be moving ok now on 421 near Laurel Springs Baptist Church due to earlier wreck
