NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (May 17, 2024) — Traverse City, Michigan residents Paula Wimberley and Patrick Hyde have been a couple for 20 years and last year here at the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway the couple decided to start making things official, so they got engaged. This year they have returned south for a two-week vacation that included a bucket-list stop last week at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem where they took in a race. After spending this week in North Wilkesboro, they will tie the knot in an official wedding ceremony on Sunday at 11 a.m. by The Pond in the Lot E campground. Both are big Ross Chastain fans and after the wedding they will be in their seats on the front stretch cheering on the driver of the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevy during Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race. Kim Parker, owner of nearby Parker Farms, will serve as the matron of honor and Hyde’s witness will be Brad Chandler, a friend he met at the race here last year.

Wimberley the bride said fellow fans and media are invited to the ceremony and she plans to keep this weekend on her vacation schedule for years to come, “We can’t wait to come back here next year as a married couple. Last year’s race here was our first NASCAR race and we had so much fun. We want to make this trip a tradition.”

Said the groom Hyde: “Everyone here is so nice and we just have a blast coming here. Last year our friends were encouraging us to get married, but we decided to pump the brakes on that a little and we got engaged instead. We are back now and decided to get married. It’s exciting.”
