Crumpler, NC – Sheriff B. Phil Howell announces the arrest of a 23-year-old Josue Reynoso of Crumpler, after a joint investigation between the Ashe County Sheriff's Office and Catawba County Sheriff's Office. The investigation began in May 2026, involving an allegation of sexual offenses against a juvenile.
On July 17th 2026, Catawba County Sheriff's Office contacted Ashe County Sheriff's Office in reference to a case involving a juvenile and a resident of Ashe County. Both agencies opened an investigation into sexual offenses involving Reynoso. On August 10th 2026, Reynoso was arrested, transported to the Ashe County Detention Center, and placed under a “No Bond”. In North Carolina, a no-bond means a judge has ordered that the arrested individual must remain in custody until the case is resolved or a new bond hearing is held.
No further information regarding the condition of the minor or the specific nature of the crime will be released at this time to protect the privacy of the minor. This investigation is still ongoing, with further charges possible. Josue Reynoso, 23, of Crumpler, was arrested with charges from Ashe and Catawba counties, which include:
- 3 Felony Statutory Rape of a Child Less Than 15
- Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a Child Less Than 15
- Felony First Degree Kidnapping
- Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child
