An App State student was struck after leaving a festival in Boone on Saturday night.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. the NC State Highway Patrol responded to a collision on Old US 421 South near Cabbage Row Drive.  A pickup truck traveling on Old US 421 South struck a pedestrian in the travel lane attempting to cross the roadway.

The pedestrian,  Mallory Price Mayor, 20, of Waxhaw, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She had been attending the Thaw Out festival at the fairgrounds. The sorority Sigma Kappa posted on Facebook that Mayor is one of their members.

“She suffered a fractured skull, brain bleed and a broken femur. Mallory underwent emergency brain surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and is now in the beginning stages of what is expected to be a long recovery ahead”, according to a GoFundMe page that has been set up.
