Monday October 24

Various construction operations continue today on 321 in Blowing Rock with no impacts to traffic. Currently, there are no contractor-installed lane closures/flagging operations scheduled today; however, Blue Ridge Electric has installed a northbound lane closure from Food Lion Shopping Center to Possum Hollow Rd for utility work. With increasing volumes of traffic for High Country events and Fall foliage peaking, motorists are urged to slow down and to remain alert to construction crews and equipment working alongside the roadway and entering/exiting the roadway at various locations throughout the project.

NCDOT working on 421/Boone Mtn in Vilas. Expect some delays.

Wednesday Oct 26

Various construction operations including paving, storm drain and utility work continue today on 321 in Blowing Rock with moderate to significant impacts to traffic. Flagging operations are scheduled today from Norwood Circle to Pinnacle Ave, a southbound lane closure is in place from Sunset Dr to Ransom Str, and lane closures with flagging and a pilot truck are in place from Green Park Inn southward. MOTORIST SHOULD EXPECT DELAYS!! With increasing volumes of traffic for High Country events and Fall foliage peaking, motorists are urged to slow down and to remain alert to construction crews and equipment working alongside the roadway and entering/exiting the roadway at various locations throughout the project.

Thursday Oct 27

Construction operations including paving, storm drain work and utility work continue today on 321 in Blowing Rock with MODERATE TO SIGNIFICANT impacts to traffic. Flagging operations are scheduled today from Norwood Circle to Rock Rd for paving and retaining wall work. A northbound lane closure is in place beginning near Sunset Dr for various ops and flagging operations are scheduled on US 221/US 321 Bus/N. Main St. near Chetola for pavement marking operations. MOTORIST SHOULD EXPECT DELAYS!! Even with increasing volumes of traffic for High Country events and Fall foliage peaking, motorists are reminded that the project is still operating under our normal scheduling guidelines. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, to allow extra time when traveling through the project and to remain alert to construction crews and equipment working alongside the roadway and entering/exiting the roadway at various locations throughout the project.

No travel impacts scheduled today/this weekend on 321 in Blowing Rock.

 

12:42pm – Four car wreck on 421 at New Market Center. Expect delays in that area.
