A combination effort between multiple fire departments, including the North Carolina Forest Service, prevented a wildfire from spreading further on Wednesday.

Stuart Scott with the Watauga County Forest Ranger/NC Forest Service, tells WataugaRoads.com that firemen with Blowing Rock, Stewart Simmons and the North Carolina Forest Service extinguished an 8 acre wildfire before it could spread through the Blue Ridge Mountain Club located in Blowing Rock.

Along with the help of a bulldozer and NCFS scout plane, the fire was 100% contained as of 7:30 pm Wednesday night.
