Strong storms in the area produced hail across portions of the county on Monday. The storms prompted the National Weather Service to issue two Special Weather Statements for portions of Watauga County, due to winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.
Edward Greene captured the hail near Green Valley School around 2pm. He told WataugaOnline.com, at the time, that the hail was mostly “pebble size” but there were some larger pieces.
