BANNER ELK – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will continue a major rock removal project on Tuesday night with intermittent closures for safety operations.
Beginning at 7 p.m., April 9, crews from Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc. will perform a blasting operation to remove rock and material from slopes on N.C. 105 and Broadstone Road.
Crews will stop traffic intermittently for up to 15 minutes at a time to safely remove small rocks and dirt from the road.
Beginning at 9 p.m. that evening, traffic will be stopped for up to 30 minutes at a time as crews work to remove larger rocks from the area to have the roadway cleared by 6 a.m. the following morning.
Flagging crews and digital message boards will be on-site providing work zone information.
Drivers should anticipate delays and use caution when approaching the work zone and follow instructions of flaggers and on-site law enforcement.
