Lowering of United States and North Carolina Flags in Honor of the Victims of the Virginia Tragedy

Governor Roy Cooper has ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state buildings, facilities and grounds to be lowered to half-staff immediately through sunset on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 to honor the victims of the Virginia Beach, Virginia tragedy on May 31, 2019.

Governor Cooper shared the following statement:

“We mourn for the people of Virginia Beach and their dedicated public employees who must suffer from yet another senseless act of gun violence,” said Gov. Roy Cooper. “We must keep fighting to do more to stop the carnage.”
