Summer-like temperatures were in full force on Tuesday, as Boone recorded the hottest day of the year so far. On Tuesday afternoon the Watauga Medical Center reporting station topped out at 82.4 degrees, marking the first time high temperatures have been 82 or above since September 24, 2016…234 days ago.
In April a mark of 80.6 degrees was recorded, which was a month earlier than 2016 and two months earlier than 2015 in reaching 80.
It was also the first 80 degree or higher temperature for May 2017.

2011 – 4 days (one of which was 87.8 on May 31)
