Guard Rail Work To Take Place On Westview Drive In Blowing Rock, Delays To Motorists Expected

Last Updated on September 18, 2016 10:56 am

Beginning early Tuesday, September 20 and lasting through late afternoon Thursday, September 22, residents and visitors traveling along Westview Drive, off of 321, can expect SIGNIFICANT impacts to their trips along Westview Drive. Construction crews will be on sight beginning early Tuesday morning in order to remove the concrete barrier rail located along the edge of the pavement, from 321 to the curve just before the entrance to Cliff Dwellers Inn. Additional crews will begin installing guardrail along this same section of Westview Drive on Wednesday.

With little to no room to work in this area, vehicles will only be allowed to enter/exit Westview Dr on a limited basis, with possible delays of up to 30 minutes. Exceptions will be made for any emergency response vehicles that might be called to the area during this time. Work is currently scheduled to be performed during the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Residents who live along Westview Dr as well as those planning a visit to this area are strongly advised to prepare in advance for this significant impact to traffic. This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if needed.

The Town of Blowing Rock has activated their automated CodeRED alerts system in order to advise residents along Westview Dr of this scheduled work.
