Power restoration is nearly complete for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and officials are urging members to call the cooperative’s PowerLine at 800-448-2383 if anyone is still affected by an outage.
Linemen are working to repair the final eight damaged locations to get power to 23 members in the communities of Warrensville and Shatley Springs in Ashe County. At the height of Thursday night’s snow storm, 9,000 members were without power.
“Our electric system had hundreds of locations damaged from the storm, including downed power lines over the New River, broken poles and spans of line pulled down by falling trees, explained Renee Whitener, director of public relations. “Our linemen are continuing to work this evening to get to everyone who needs us so it’s very important to call if you still have an outage.”
Assisting in restoration were crews from Rutherford EMC, Union Power, French Broad EMC, York Electric, Haywood EMC, EnergyUnited, and Sumter, Pike and Carter utility contract crews.
