A surprise took place during Frankie Lancaster's Choir class on Tuesday, April 16. Superintendent Dr. Leslie Alexander and Watauga High School principal Scott Strickler ran into the classroom with balloons and a plaque. Lancaster and his students were surprised and excited by this unexpected visit from members of Central Office administration, WHS administration and Lancaster's wife Meagan.
“My first response was one of complete shock, surprise, and one of complete honor,” Lancaster said. “There are so many fantastic teachers here at the High School and across the county that work hard every day to make this county a better place. So, I am deeply grateful for the consideration.”
He shared that earning the trust of these wonderful students through intentionality, listening, and care has been one of the biggest joys of his life so far.
“I am so very thankful for Dr. White and the administration at the high school who took a chance on someone with quite the eclectic work/life experience,” Lancaster said. “I presented the areas of excitement, character, teamwork and growth not only in numbers but maturity as things I would focus on when I was interviewing for this spectacular position and there is not a day that goes by that we are not aiming to get better at those things.”
