Fire Crews Battle 20+ Acre Fire

Shortly after 9pm crews from each fire department in the county were dispatched to assist in battling a 20 plus acre fire in the Jake's Mountain Road area. Crews were preparing to fight the fire all night if needed according to police scanner information. Just after 10pm officials closed Jake's Mountain Road, only allowing local traffic in.

Just after 11:30pm containment lines were around most of the fire. More than 50 acres in all were burned and officials say that they are not ruling out the possibility that someone started the fires, according to a published report.

In all there were a total of three fires during the course of the night.


 

Crews from every fire department in the county have been called in to assist with the fire in the Jake's Mountain Road area of Watauga County. As of 9:30pm no other details are known about the situation.

10:05pm – Jake's Mountain Road is blocked off except for local traffic according to scanner.
