Fire crews from several departments responded to a 22-acre brushfire in the Beaver Dam district on Saturday, December 23.
6 homes were immediately threatened with others nearby, according to Andrew Harsey with the North Carolina Forest Service.
‘Excellent response from all departments, great teamwork to implement and execute the plan for containment.”, Harsey said.
Beaver Dam Fire, Cove Creek Fire, Zionville Fire, Fall Creek (Avery County), Foscoe Fire, Boone Fire, NC Forestry, and Watauga Fire Marshal's Office all responded to the scene.
The cause is still under investigation.
