CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 11, 2019) – Nearly half of all states, including North and South Carolina, saw a small jump in gas prices on the week.North Carolina’s $2.15 average is one cent higher than this time last week and five cents higher on the month, but still 31 cents less than this time last year. Similarly, South Carolina’s $1.99 average is two cents higher than this time last week and five cents higher than last month, but remains 35 cents cheaper on the year.

“We are seeing a small spike in gas prices across the Carolinas, but at this time it is nothing too shocking,” said Tiffany Wright, AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “Frigid temperatures across the country have contributed towards drop in demand. The instability in demand – likely because of the cold – is what is causing prices to slightly move.”
