Boone Police have charged a Lenoir man in connection with a hit-and-run collision that left two pedestrians with potentially life-threatening injuries on West King Street last week.
According to Boone Police, Tristan Joseph Schreiber, 29, of Lenoir, has been charged with two counts of felony hit and run resulting in serious bodily injury and one count of failure to maintain lane control. Schreiber was taken before a Watauga County magistrate, where no bond was set, and was then taken to the Watauga County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in Watauga District Court on November 25, 2026.
The charges stem from a collision on Wednesday, September 23, at approximately 11:34 p.m., when Boone Police, Boone Fire, and Watauga County EMS responded to a report of a vehicle striking two pedestrians in the vicinity of 1358 West King Street.
Police say the investigation indicates two pedestrians were walking along the roadway when a vehicle left the roadway and struck both of them, causing potentially life-threatening injuries, before leaving the scene. The injured were identified as 20-year-old Joshua Dotson, of Vilas, and 29-year-old Deedra McCullough, of Boone. Both were transported to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.
Officers processed the scene and recovered vehicle debris believed to have come from the vehicle involved, which investigators used to help identify and locate the driver. Boone Police say additional information will be released as appropriate.
