Boone Fire finishes 2022 with the most calls in department history

The Boone Fire Department finished the calendar year 2022 with the most calls in department history with 2,498 calls for service.

Station 1, located downtown, responded to over 1,000 calls. December was the busiest month with a total of 327 calls.

Ladder 1, based at Station 1, had the longest response of the year when it traveled 24 miles to West Jefferson for the Cobble Creek Lumber fire.

Boone Fire was able to add 3 firefighter positions in 2022 bringing a total of 9 Firefighters per shift and a total of 32 full time personnel and 9 volunteer firefighters.

7 members completed Hazardous Materials Technician class in 2022 and 7 members completed the NC TR: Water Rescue series. This brings a total of Haz-Mat Technicians up to 10 and 33-members water rescue certified.

Boone Fire Department staff conducted over 2,000+ Fire Inspections & Pre-Fire Plans.

In 2022, Fire Prevention Staff reached 1,447 students through 38 programs at local schools, installed 30 car seats, reached 375 people through fire extinguisher programs and worked on 178 construction projects.
