Blue Ridge Electric Restoring Remaining Outages From Early Morning Ice Damage

Linemen with Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation are working to restore the remaining 18 members without power this morning after 1,757 members were affected by ice damaging power lines early this morning.

Members who have unreported outages –or outages at any time–should call the cooperative’s PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383.

The heaviest damage occurred in Caldwell County, where 1,148 members were affected beginning at 12:28 a.m. Seventeen of the remaining outages to be restored are in Caldwell County as of 10 a.m. Fallen trees outside of the right-of-way damaged power lines, impacting primarily the Patterson, Grace Chapel, Bee Mountain, Elk Creek, and Ferguson communities.

Watauga County was impacted with 582 members without power primarily in Blowing Rock and Powder Horn Mountain.

In Ashe County, 20 members were affected primarily in the Green Valley and Sheets Gap communities.

In Alleghany County, 15 members were affected.
