BOONE, N.C. – August 12, 2026 – As the Boone Town Council continues its search for a new Town Manager, the Council has decided to retain a professional interim town manager to oversee the Town's daily operations. This will allow current Interim Town Manager, Dale Presnell, to return to his primary role as Director of Human Resources. The Council sincerely appreciates Mr. Presnell's willingness to step into the leadership role during this time and his dedication and commitment the Town and its staff.
The Town Council is pleased to announce that William H. “Hank” Perkins has agreed to serve as the Town's Interim Town Manager. Mr. Perkins has had two prior engagements as an Interim Town Manager with the Town of Midway, North Carolina. He previously served as Town Manager for Lewisville, North Carolina for 10 years and as Town Manager for North Wilkesboro, North Carolina for 10 years, as well as Town Manager for the towns of Lake Lure and Lucama, North Carolina. Hank will begin work for the Town of Boone on August 17th, 2026.
Mayor Dalton George stated, “We're taking the time necessary to ensure that the next permanent manager is the right fit for the Town of Boone. In the meantime, we're pleased to welcome Mr. Perkins to the role in an interim capacity and we're excited to see what he will bring to Boone.”
