Last Updated on October 7, 2016 3:44 pm

As Hurricane Matthew continues to move up the east coast crews with Blue Ridge Electric are already preparing to help on the coast.

20 linemen left at 7 am this morning, heading to Brunswick EMC to assist as needed, according to Renee Whitener with Blue Ridge Electric. She tells WataugaOnline.com that, “We are coordinating closely with our Statewide association for electric cooperatives and monitoring weather conditions.”

Though the High Country will not be directly impacted by Matthew, Whitner adds remaining crews are on high alert should any outages occur locally.
