10/9/24 Road Update – addresses 10/10/24

PER BANNER ELK POLICE & NC DOT: TRAVEL RESTRICTED TO ESSENTIAL.

Per Mountain Electric: NC 105 from Tynecastle to Linville will be flagman controlled 1-way traffic for utility work on Thurs, 10/10/24 for power restoration work.

105 From Tynecastle toward Boone is expected to be open. Please be patient and prepared for stoppages or delays.

NC 184 into Banner Elk from 105 is open. For safety, Google Maps states it is closed to ensure no heavy vehicles or tractor-trailers access.

NC 194 from Banner Elk toward Elk Park may be closed at times for power restoration, with reduced speeds and compromised roads.

NC 194 from Banner Elk to Valle Crucis is drivable with 4WD and vehicles with appropriate ground clearance. The road is compromised in sections.

Hickory Nut Gap is open to through traffic with significant caution. Take note of compromised and 1-way roadway sections and downed power lines that may or may not be marked.

184 to Beech Mountain open. Beech Mtn is also accessible via Buckeye Road on the backside.

Roads will open and close with little no notice for repairs and power restoration. Most roads are compromised with caved or crumbling pavement, downed trees, and loose power lines.
