The Town of Boone, in partnership with the Watauga Community Housing Trust, is pleased to announce the award of funding for the Trust’s first affordable housing project in Boone.
At its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the Boone Town Council voted unanimously to grant support in the amount of $10,000 to the Trust for the procurement of property. Deed restrictions will be in place to ensure the property is and remains affordable to its inhabitants.
The funding was awarded on the condition that the Trust can raise the rest of the funds necessary to complete the project. It is the hope of Boone Town Councilmembers and administration that others will follow suit in supporting this important cause.
