Arson / Intentional Burning on ASU Campus

On Friday March 03,2012, at 18.03 p.m., the Appalachian State University Police
Department received a Fire Alarm at Doughton Residence Hall. ASU Police
Department and the Boone Fire Department responded to the call. They discovered
that an unknown suspect had been lighting fire to the flyers attached to the
poster boards in Doughton Residence Hall. The fire was extinguished, and there
were no injuries reported. There are no suspects at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.

should be aware that felonies and misdemeanors show up on their records when
employers do background checks–even if they were minors when they carried out
the crime(s).

Notification to the campus of a serious crime is required by law.
