This year's BIG Sale is Saturday, Aug. 19 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Legends. Expectations are to top last year’s earnings of more than $22,000. The first “BIG Sale” and “Don’t Throw It Away” projects, were started by student Natalie Knight ’03 in 2000. Appalachian has donated close to $200,000 in proceeds from the BIG Sale to local non-profits.
This year, an estimated 68 tons of material were diverted from the landfill in May because of “Don’t Throw It Away.”
