…AIR QUALITY ALERT HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT FRIDAY
NIGHT…

The North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources
in Raleigh NC has extended a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for
Fine Particulates…until midnight EDT Friday night.

A Code Orange Air Quality Action Day means that air pollution
concentrations within the region have become unhealthy for sensitive
groups. Sensitive groups include children…people suffering from
asthma or other lung diseases…heart disease…and the elderly. The
effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous
activity or exercise outdoors. A burn ban is also in effect for Code
Orange days.

This particular alert is due to smoke from wildfires in the western
United States and central Canada.

An Air Quality Action Day means that Fine Particulates
concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy
standards. For additional information…please visit the North
Carolina Division of Air Quality Web site at
