Data released this week by the United States Drought Monitor shows the High Country, and roughly over half of North Carolina, abnormally dry.
Rainfall data from the Southeast Regional Climate Center shows Boone as the 35th driest since 1980 *as of May 26*
The good news is rain continues to be in the forecast for the High Country through next week.
