September 2019 has, for the most part, felt more like a July regarding high temperatures. On Wednesday, Boone unofficially recorded the highest temperature of the year.

Data from the Watauga Medical Center reporting station shows a high of 86 and 87. Technically the high was 86.5 according to the data calendar compiled and provided by Iowa State University.

Before today, the WMC station recorded high temps above 86 degrees: 86.2 (June 17, 2018) and 87.4 (June 18, 2018).

Of note that official Boone weather records rely on three different sources. Boone COOP station 310977 was used from 1929-1980 and Boone 1Se 310982 from June 1980-present for temperatures, rainfall and snowfall. Watauga Medical Center reporting station KTNB is used for wind speeds.
