UPDATE Wednesday, July 17 – – The blasting operation previously scheduled for today from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. will now take place at the same time tomorrow, July 18. Intermittent traffic stoppages will be in effect for no more than 30 minutes at a time during the operation.
BANNER ELK – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation has updated next week’s schedule for the N.C. 105 bridge project in Watauga County.
Crews from Wright Brother’s Construction Company Inc. have previously performed successful blasting and rock removal operations, continuing work to replace the 69-year-old bridge over the Watauga River.
The latest schedule is as follows:
- July 15 – 19:
- From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., motorists can expect short delays with flaggers directing traffic throughout the project for movement of equipment.
- July 17:
- From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., crews will perform a blasting operation with intermittent traffic stoppages for no more than 30 minutes at a time.
Motorists are reminded to use caution when approaching the work zone and utilize DriveNC.gov for real-time traffic information.
