…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING…

  • WHAT…Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
  • WHERE…In North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga, and Wilkes
    Counties. In Virginia, Grayson and Smyth Counties.
  • WHEN…Until 6 PM EDT this evening.
  • IMPACTS…Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Winds of
    this magnitude may cause more trees to fall than normal due to
    wind damage and weakened slopes sustained during the passage of
    Tropical Storm Helene last month. Tree limbs could be blown down
    and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Be alert for any damaged or weakened trees in your immediate
vicinity. Use extra caution when passing through wooded areas.
