Firefighters are responding to a fire along Old NC 105 in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area this morning. The fire is burning on both sides of the road south of the intersection with Forest Service Road 106. Crews are building containment lines.
No closures are in place at this time, but the public is asked to avoid the area and watch for any posted closures so firefighters can operate safely.
⚠️ Smoke may affect nearby communities and roadways — use caution when driving in the area, especially during evening hours and morning commutes when smoke tends to settle.
