In the High Country the days leading up to the first day of fishing season and Easter, though they don't always fall on the same weekend, typically produce colder temperatures along with maybe even winter weather. This week will live up to that.

After high temperatures in Boone of 70 on Friday, and 60s the last few days, a near 30 degree drop will occur between Wednesday and Thursday. Forecast highs on Wednesday are around 60 dropping to mid 30s for Thursday. Forecast low temperatures will be in the 20s.

Wind chills will also be a weather issue Wednesday night through Friday night. Forecast wind chills will be as low as 10 above for many locations.

Regarding snow chances, the best opportunity will be Wednesday after midnight. Little or no accumulation is expected according to the National Weather Service.

The upcoming weekend will mark Good Friday, the first day of fishing season on Saturday and Easter Sunday.

The current NWS forecast for:

Saturday: Sunny. Not as cool with highs in the mid 50s.
