A local woman who has given so much to others in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene has received quite the gift from a Charlotte TV station.
Jennifer Triplett was surprised by Vanessa Ruffes, news anchor with WCNC, and Mark Clayton, a member of the Charlotte-area Hyundai dealers, with a new 2024 Hyundai on November 28th. The station aired the piece on Monday, December 9th – a link is below to see their full video and article.
In a Facebook post on the day of the award Jennifer said in part, “For someone who is never found as speechless, I feel like I have struggled to find the words for this week. I am so honored, humbled, and thankful to be named your “hometown hero.” There is nothing I love more than helping others. The relief efforts have filled my cup as much as we have filled the needs.”
Triplett also went on to say, “Looking around at all the people who came out in support, and were able to keep it all a secret, just blows me away. My family, extended family, friends, elementary and high school teachers. I was in total shock. All of those that were there have made me a better person. I have been able to become “me” because of the influence each and every one of them have had on my life. They all deserve so much recognition! Talk about hero's, those folks surrounding me are my heros
She added, “There is so much work that has been put forth to have boots on the ground in so many areas, but there is so much more work yet to be done. I hope this story showcases that, and western North Carolina gets the love and help they desperately need and deserve! I love these mountains, the people, the strength and love we all commonly share. I'm so proud to be a small part of the recovery… come hell or high water.”
