Watauga fell to Asheville 41-26 Friday night at Watauga High School, as the Cougars avenged last season's loss to the Pioneers on Youth Night.
The loss extends Watauga's losing streak to four straight games, dropping the Pioneers to 1-4 on the season. Asheville improves to 4-1, winning three of its last four games.
Both teams now turn to conference play. Watauga opens Northwestern 6A/7A Conference play at home against Freedom on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. for Military Appreciation night. Asheville opens its own conference slate on the road against T.C. Roberson.
