The Watauga County Board of Education voted Monday night to extend the school day for students across the district, beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
The motion, recommended by Superintendent Dr. Leslie Alexander, calls for adding 25 minutes to the school day at all K-8 schools and 10 additional minutes to the school day at Watauga High School.
The board voted to approve the calendar modification. The changes will take effect at the start of the next school year.
