The Watauga County Board of Education will meet Monday, Aug. 10, with a closed session beginning at 4:30 p.m. and the open session starting at 6 p.m.
After Superintendent Dr. Leslie Alexander's report and a public comment period, the board will take up two action items: approval of an architect contract for the Valle Crucis school project, and approval of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for artificial turf.
The board's consent agenda also includes a 2027-28 school calendar waiver request, a grant application for the Advanced Teaching Roles (ATR) program, a field trip request, a declaration of surplus property and the personnel report.
Also on the agenda: a discussion of the inclement weather administrative regulation (7550); second readings of policies on parental involvement and technology responsible use; and first readings of policies covering drivers and vehicles, and school trips.
The meeting is open to the public, with public comment scheduled shortly after the open session begins.
