Third earthquake in less than 24 hours measured near Sparta

Another earthquake was recorded near Sparta in Alleghany County during the overnight. 

This quake measured 2.1 magnitude and was centered .9 miles east of Sparta, 27.6 miles west of Mount Airy, and 37.3 miles east-northeast of Boone at 1:40 am, according to the United States Geological Society.  

This marks the third earthquake reported near Sparta in less than 24 hours, and is in the area of the earthquake outbreak in 2020. For more information on Tuesday's quakes visit this link.
