Snowy Windy Monday Atop Grandfather Mountain, Workers Brave Winds To Clear Bridge

Last Updated on March 12, 2018 3:20 pm

As winter weather buffets the East Coast, Grandfather Mountain received some four inches of fresh snow, with temperatures in the low 20s at the Mile High Swinging Bridge. As the park's maintenance crew works to clear the snow, some of the mountain's furrier denizens have something else in mind.

Grandfather's resident elk — Doc, Merle and Watson — enjoy the brisk weather and can be seen playing in the powder in their environmental wildlife habitat.
