UPDATE Wednesday 10am – Video update from National Weather Service

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening for the High Country, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

According to the Hazardous Weather Outlook for the High Country for Wednesday, “Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat with these thunderstorms. In addition…behind a strong cold front Wednesday night and Thursday, northwest winds could exceed 45 mph, especially along the higher ridges of the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountains.”

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has the High Country, and much of North Carolina, in a slight risk for impactful storms, which means scattered severe storms are possible.
