For the second time in three days an earthquake was measured near Boone. On Saturday a 2.4 magnitude quake was centered 3 miles southwest of Miller's Creek in Wilkes County, 21 miles northeast of Lenoir and 21 miles east southeast of Boone. The quake was recorded at 11:49pm Saturday night.
On Thursday a 1.9 magnitude earthquake was measured in Avery County.
