RV Destroyed By Fire On Marion Cornett Road; Refrigerator Blamed

BOONE — A recreational vehicle was heavily damaged by fire Monday afternoon on Marion Cornett Road, but firefighters kept the flames from spreading to a nearby structure.

Watauga County Communications received the call at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Monday, May 4. Units arriving at the 100 block of Marion Cornett Road found the RV 50 percent involved in fire and located 15 feet from a structure.

Crews controlled the fire by 2:34 p.m. with no damage to the nearby structure.

No one was inside the RV or the structure at the time of the fire.

The Watauga County Fire Marshal's Office determined the cause to be a refrigerator malfunction.

Responding units included the Boone Fire Department and the Watauga County Fire Marshal's Office.
