The Town of Boone is notifying residents of the Town that the public restroom, located in the Boone Town Hall at 567 West King Street, will no longer be available for public use effective immediately.

On May 11, 2023, the North Carolina League of Municipalities conducted a safety audit on the Town Hall building. This review was conducted by the request of the Risk Control Field Consultant for the western region of North Carolina. After the review, which was conducted by the Risk Control Field Consultant for the western region and the Director of Risk Management Field Services, it was determined that Town Hall could not continue to offer public restrooms due to safety concerns for employees in the building.

Town of Boone staff are in the process of looking at other avenues to provide a public restroom to residents and tourists of Downtown Boone. The public restroom in the Jones House, located at 604 West King Street, will continue to remain open at this time.

In addition, the Town Hall building will now operate under controlled access. The Utility Billing Department and the Parking Department is accessible from the lower level of the building. For more information, please contact Town Hall at (828) 268-6200.
