The High Country appears on tap to feel some record setting temperatures the early part of this week.
Though not expected to come close to all time records, breaking into the Top 5 for specific dates appears possible. The National Weather Service has forecast highs in the mid 80s for Monday and Tuesday for Watauga County.
Data from the State Climate Office of North Carolina shows that those forecast numbers could break into the Top 5 for high temperatures for June 15 & 16. In the Sunday morning weather briefing NWS noted that temperatures will run roughly 10 degrees above normal throughout their forecast area.
The all time high for the month of June is 94 in Boone on June 29,1936. The all time high is 96 in Boone on July 10,1936.
