For the first time in a couple of years, motorist traveling in the High Country will not have winter weather conditions to contend with for the Thanksgiving weekend. Partly sunny with highs in the lower 50s are forecast by the National Weather Service for Thanksgiving Day, and a chance of rain returns starting Friday through the weekend.
In 2013 temperatures in the mid teens with wind chills in the single digits greeted Thanksgiving morning motorist. Highs barely reached the 30s that year, as back roads continued to be slick from snow that had fallen the previous day.
In 2014 roads across the area were slick from snow that fell the previous day, and wintry conditions that redeveloped on Thanksgiving night.
