There were no reported injuries in a Thursday afternoon accident involving a Watauga County School bus and a car.

Garrett Price, Director of Communications for Watauga County Schools, tells WataugaOnline.com that there were 13 students and the driver aboard the bus when the minor accident occurred on Brown's Chapel Road. Price went on to add that once law enforcement cleared the scene the bus traveled back to Watauga High.

Watauga County Schools dismissed earlier in the day due to incoming winter weather.

Dr. Scott Elliott, Superintendent of Watauga County Schools added, “We were doing our best to be proactive by dismissing early today when the forecast indicated a wintery-mix headed our way in the afternoon. I think we quickly saw much more snowfall than we were expecting. It says a lot about the safety of our school buses and the skill of our drivers that even in this kind of weather, our students can get home safely.”

Dr. Elliott went on to say, “We very much appreciate the Watauga County Sheriff's Office, Boone Fire Department, Boone Police Department and everyone who responded to the accident and were quickly able to make sure our students were safe.”
